It seems I'm often apologising for my absence from this blog, but the sudden death of my Aunty three weeks ago has made this blog seem somewhat irrelevant. The past 18 months have been difficult, my father was diagnosed with cancer a year ago and we were all torn apart and put back together, all odd angles, torn edges and snaking cracks. He is healthy now, and for that I am forever thankful, but it made me question the validity of this blog. Without a doubt things have been irrevocably changed and however innocuous this blog is, I do love it. I love being part of this vast network of people who adore the same things I do, in all their various ways. So forgive my absences, I'll always be back, but maybe not as often as I should.

California Poppies With You

The concept of this Mary Katrantzou Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear collection is so perfect, so ingenious that for a moment it stunned me into silence. This is quite possibly one of my favourite collections of the past few years and after analysing every little detail of these effortless pieces, I began to notice all the intricacies I'd overlooked. Embellished necklaces fashioned from light fixtures and draped chiffon imitating billowing curtains. And the shoes. Vibrant jewel tones and at times subtle, classic shapes. Perfect.
