Ne Me Quitte Pas

Sarah Burton could have easily buckled under the sheer weight of expectation. However, she managed created a collection reminiscent of Alexander McQueen's best work without falling into the trap of complete imitation. Effortless extravagance at its best.

One Foot In Sea, One Foot On Shore

Creatures of the Wind presented a Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear collection based on the concept of a sailor wife waiting for her lover to return home for sea. As a cynical romantic (which means I abhor happy endings, while secretly hoping for them at the same time) I'm sold. Add an understated, off beat elegance removed from the usual fashion week glossed over perfection and I'm a happy girl.

I Tried To Say That's Not The Only Way

There are numerous reasons why I'm a little bit infatuated with Prabal Gurung's Fall 2011 Ready-to-Wear collection, but in the end it comes down to the details. The hints of hot pink hiding under red, the intricate lace panels, leather detail and zipper embellishments. For me, this is a sign of successful collection, when the small details are as important as the whole.
